Ontario Moves Towards Mandatory Vaccines

The city of Toronto has some schools with some very low vaccinations rates, anywhere from 70% to 50%. And Ontario isn’t going to be having it anymore. In fact, they are calling for parents who want a vaccination exemption, which isn’t medical, to sit down for a lesson from Health Officials. If you are seeking religious exemptions now, you may not be able to get it so easily.

From the Toronto Star. “What’s most disturbing to me as a physician and public health specialist is that some Ontarians remain hesitant about having themselves and their children vaccinated, due mostly to the baseless fears spread by a small but vocal group of anti-vaccine activists.”

This is a proposed change, it isn’t official yet, but it does have the backing of the  Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and most public health agencies.  The proposed change to the Immunization of School Pupils Act would take place by September. Fortunately, Vaccine Choice Canada has stepped in to fight for parental rights.

“What they’re attempting to do is pressure parents who are concerned, legitimately so, about addressing risk,” said Heather Fraser, a natural health practitioner in Toronto.

This is exactly what’s happening. Public health officials are going to use this opportunity to strong arm and intimidate parents into getting their children vaccinated. It will also be used as an opportunity to shame parents into vaccinations. Vaccine shaming is extremely effective as many parents want as little grind as possible when it comes to their children’s life in school. No parent wants their child to be the focal point in this debate by teachers, parents or other students. Parents having to come in for a lecture and to receive Government propaganda is gestapo like. The sad thing is if this proves ineffective, they will just move to increase laws.

If schools are showing that half the parents do not support vaccines, what does that say? The Toronto Star article mentioned Jenny McCarthy as the main source of research for the anti-vaccination movement, which is merely a despicable lean on their part.

Ontario parents who buy in to Jenny McCarthy’s anti-vaccination gospel will soon have to sit down for a lesson from public health officials if they want non-medical exemptions for their kids.

I guess we know where Rob Ferguson stands on the issue. Wonderful, unbiased journalism…this is not.
