Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is notifying all patients and staff that were on the ground of the ER on August 18th that they might have measles.

Health officials claim the exposure window was from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

According to the hospital, a person who was in the waiting area at the time was later diagnosed with measles.

The hospital is contacting anyone and everyone who may have had contact with this person.

“Because staff quickly took the appropriate steps to isolate the patient, the risk of the infection spreading is thought to be relatively low,” hospital spokeswoman Barbara Schindo said in a statement.

The fact that the issue took place in an emergency room, where symptoms of measles might feel like that of an emergency, tells me that not too many people will be overly surprised. I’m curious that window included other sick people. My guess is, being that it is an emergency room, it did.
